Loud bang, door won’t lift
Probably a broken spring. Symptoms, why springs usually get replaced in pairs, and cited price ranges.
None of the shops on our list is headquartered in Georgetown yet, but all five Williamson County-area shops we’ve profiled say on their own websites that they cover it. This page covers who they are, what to check first when your door quits, what Georgetown neighbors have said on Reddit, Sun City’s garage door rules, and the city’s permit basics.

Opener vs door problem, and how to decide between repair and replacement.
Sensor vs track vs cable vs spring in two minutes, plus the low-sun sensor problem.

These are stubs, not audits. For each shop we checked the company’s own website on 2026-10-25 for a Georgetown service-area claim (described below). We have not verified licenses, insurance, ratings, or prices. Call 2–3 of them and compare quotes.
What we verified: Georgetown is in the contact page’s service area (“Round Rock, Austin, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Hutto…”), with hours listed as Monday–Saturday, 8 AM–6 PM.
What we verified: the FAQ says it serves “Williamson County, North Austin, and all surrounding areas” and names Georgetown in its city list. One commenter in an Oct 2025 r/georgetowntx thread said VIP was “great and reasonably priced.”
What we verified: the site has a Georgetown page (naming the historic square, Wolf Ranch, Berry Creek, Georgetown Village, and Cimarron Hills) and a separate Sun City page. It says the team is based in Cedar Park, not Georgetown.
What we verified: the site has a Georgetown service-area page listing Sun City, Wolf Ranch, Berry Creek, Serenada, Georgetown Village, Cimarron Hills, and Fountainwood. Not based in Georgetown.
What we verified: the site has a Georgetown repair page and lists Georgetown among the towns it serves. It’s the largest shop on our list. Georgetown Reddit threads mention it more than any other name, both for and against (see below).
Not listed for Georgetown: South Austin Garage Door Repair and Systems. Its site describes a South Austin focus, and we didn’t find a Georgetown claim.
These names came up in our research. They are not on our list yet because we haven’t finished checking them. Listing them here isn’t an endorsement.
We found two recent threads on r/georgetowntx: “Garage repair recommendations?” (Jan 2025) and “Looking for affordable garage door repair recommendations in Georgetown” (Oct 2025, a Pecan Grove resident whose opener motor quit and whose quotes felt too high).
Georgetown results are full of sites whose name is just the search phrase. These signs suggest a listing may be a lead-gen or national SEO operation. None of them proves it; the lead-gen vs local guide has the full checklist.
Ask on the phone: “What’s your company’s legal name, who owns it, and is the tech your employee or a subcontractor?”
Wolf Ranch, Berry Creek, Georgetown Village and other master-planned neighborhoods have their own HOAs. Before you order a replacement door in a new color or style, check your HOA’s architectural guidelines. A like-for-like spring or opener repair usually isn’t the issue.
We don’t publish Georgetown-specific prices because we haven’t found a reliable public source for them. Cited Austin-area ranges are in the spring, opener, and off-track guides.
